What is special about a stone?

We had some AMAZING answers in Worship with Mrs Hoban this morning:

You can build with them

They are difficult to break

You can write with them

They are smooth

They are all different shapes and sizes

They are hard

We listened to a story from the Bible about a man whose heart was hard like a stone. He lived in Jericho and on the day the story happened, Jesus was travelling to Jericho. This man in Jericho, even though he wasn’t a really nice man, wanted to see Jesus. Jesus wondered what had hurt this man in order to make his heart hard like a stone. This man was  a Tax Collector who took extra money for himself. The people of Jericho didn’t like him because he stole from them. The man’s name was Zacchaeus and he was very small. He couldn’t see Jesus through the crowd of people so he climbed a tree. Jesus saw him in the tree and Jesus said, “Come down. I would like to come to your house for dinner.”

The people were confused. Why do you think that Jesus chose Zacchaeus?

After he had dinner with Jesus, Zacchaeus changed. The love of God turned his heart of stone into a heart of love. Zacchaeus gave back all of the money that he had stolen and more besides. Why do you think that Jesus chose Zacchaeus?
