NEWSLETTER 17

IMPORTANT – ONLINE SAFETY!

It has come to our attention that a number of children are playing online games and using social media that require them to be of a certain age, which is causing some issues in school. We would appreciate it if you could check and monitor your child’s online and mobile use of these.  Examples of these are: Clash of the Clans, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Musical.ly.  We recommend you check your child’s privacy settings on their accounts.

CHRISTINGLES

The staff would like to thank Jayne Donnellan, Meg Smethurst, Tracy Sinck, Cath Knowles and Vicar Tina for coming into school and making Christingles with all of the children. If your child has not already brought back their collection box, they can bring them in next week.

RAFFLE FOR A CHOCOLATE HAMPER

Alfie Lythgoe in Year 2 would like to raise funds for Amy and Friends, a charity that helps babies and children with a rare condition called Cockayne Syndrome (CS) and other related illnesses.

Alfie’s cousin who is only 17 months old is currently being tested for this condition. He has symptoms of it but is not 100% diagnosed yet. The charity have helped and supported his parents so much we want to give something back.

It causes severe growth problems, including microcephaly, neurological and developmental issues, sight, hearing and mobility loss and sadly, there is no current treatment (other than palliative care). The average life span of a child with Cockayne Syndrome (CS) is 8.4 years.

Tickets are £1 a strip draw will take place Tuesday 14th February. We thank you very much for taking the time to read this and hope we raise some well needed money for his charity.

All information about the charity can be found on Facebook or www.amyandfriends.org/aboutcs.htm.

Thank you.

(C Davies – Parent of Alfie)

SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS

We are now collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers which we will use to purchase equipment for the children. Your child can place any vouchers in the collection box in the foyer.

Many thanks.
