NEWSLETTER FRIDAY 16/2/24

 WHAT A WONDERFUL HALF TERM

The past six weeks have been fun-packed and the children have been working extremely hard. Thank you so much for your efforts in supporting your children throughout.

The Year 5 children looked fantastic in their Victorian costumes for their ‘Victorian Experience Day’. The pictures are on the Year 5 Blog.

All of the children looked fantastic on Number Day; we played some really fun maths games…and we raised money for the NSPCC! Please visit the school website www.wiganstandrews.net to see some pictures from the day.

We enjoyed sharing stories during National Storytelling Week, and during Children’s Mental Health Week we explored the theme ‘My Voice Matters’.

OUR CHRISTIAN VALUE FOR NEXT HALF TERM: FORGIVENESS

Our Christian value next half term is ‘Forgiveness’. We will be looking at stories from the Bible and other examples of stories that encourage us to think about forgiveness.

At St. Andrew’s, we encourage this value on a daily basis as it supports all our other values, especially ‘Friendship’, ‘Peace’ and ‘Trust’. Forgiveness is not only good for the person being forgiven, but also for the one who forgives them. Holding on to feelings of anger, hate and bitterness can leave us feeling worse than what actually upset us in the first place.

We encourage the children to be open and honest; we all make mistakes sometimes, and we believe those mistakes should be forgiven and forgotten if we show that we are sorry. We hope you will talk to your children about how it feels to be forgiven and how they can forgive others

FRIDAY NIGHT IS HAIR CHECK NIGHT!

We have recently received a number of reports from parents that their child has had to be treated for head lice. This is not a new problem of course; indeed it is one which is affecting all schools in the Borough and is one which the local Health Authority is trying to address.   However it is one which can, with proper treatment and after-care, be controlled quite easily.

We are asking parents therefore to be very watchful for any signs that their child may have a problem of this kind, to report any outbreak to school and to seek advice and treatment immediately.  Many thanks.
