WIGAN ST ANDREW’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER 14
FRIDAY NIGHT IS HAIR CHECK NIGHT!
We have recently received a number of reports from parents that their child has had to be treated for head lice. This is not a new problem of course, indeed it is one which is affecting all schools in the Borough and is one which the local Health Authority is trying to address. However it is one which can, with proper treatment and after-care, be controlled quite easily.
We are asking parents therefore to be very watchful for any signs that their child may have a problem of this kind, to report any outbreak to school and to seek advice and treatment immediately. Treatment is available at your local chemist free of charge (just ask at the counter). Please see the information from NHS Choices sent home with this newsletter for further information. Many thanks

CHRISTINGLE EXPERIENCE
We would like to thank all those who helped with the Christingle experience in church. We really appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into organising these experiences for the children.
It was a wonderful day; the children loved visiting all of the stations and building their Christingles. They learnt so much about the meaning of each element and thank you for ensuring there were enough for each child to take one home with them.
I hope we have raised some much needed funds for the Children’s Society. If anyone still has their collection candle at home, please send it into school with your child and we will pass them on to church for you.

NAME THE GIANT TEDDY
This half term our Christian value has been compassion. We have listened to bible stories and shared ways that we can show compassion to others.
Leah-Jane and Allarnah Sullivan have donated a giant teddy, and Year 5 has had an idea to raise some money. They have come up with a list of names which we will sell for £2.00 each. £1.00 of which will go to Cancer Research UK; the charity that Year 5 have chosen to support.
