WIGAN ST ANDREW’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

NEWSLETTER 10

FRIDAY NIGHT IS HAIR CHECK NIGHT!

We have recently received a number of reports from parents that their child has had to be treated for head lice. This is not a new problem of course, indeed it is one which is affecting all schools in the Borough and is one which the local Health Authority is trying to address.   However it is one which can, with proper treatment and after-care, be controlled quite easily.

We are asking parents therefore to be very watchful for any signs that their child may have a problem of this kind, to report any outbreak to school and to seek advice and treatment immediately. Treatment is available at your local chemist free of charge (just ask at the counter). Please see the information from NHS Choices sent home with this newsletter for further information. Many thanks.

ST ANDREW’S COLOUR RUN

Wow! What an amazing and wonderful group of children we have at St Andrew’s! You are awesome. We had a fantastic day completing our Colour Run and we had a Celebration Assembly to show off our brilliant, colourful clothing.

Thank you to everyone who has brought in their sponsorship money already, and if we could please have all other sponsorship forms and sponsor money by next Friday (7th December). There will be prizes for children who collect the most sponsorship money and everyone who returns their sponsorship form will be entered into the raffle to win the giant teddy bear. Every penny that we raise will go towards resources and equipment for the children at St Andrew’s.

Thank you for your amazing support.

(Mr Sharkey)

BIRTHDAY NEWS

In our November School Council meeting the idea of children wearing their own choice of clothes to school on their birthday was raised and discussed.

From Monday 3rd December children have the option to come to school dressed in non-school uniform on their birthday if they wish. If a birthday falls on a weekend or during a holiday your child may attend wearing non-school uniform on the Friday before.

For any children who have already celebrated their birthday this school year, they may come to school next Monday – 3rd December in their choice of clothes.

Please note – Children do not have to wear their ‘own clothes’ on their birthday – it is their choice!

SCHOOL HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICE

As church representative for USPG I wish to thank everyone at the Harvest Festival who so generously gave to the USPG rapid response fund. A wonderful total of £291.30 has been sent to the USPG. This amount was raised at the church and school harvest services, of which £140 was given at the school harvest. Donations to this fund enable USPG to support church relief in times of emergency. Earlier this year the USPG sent emergency relief funds to support the work of the church of South India after torrential rains, landslides and flooding which claimed hundreds of lives in Kerala state. The USPG appreciate all our donations and prayers. Thank you so much for your support to help this vital work.
