Christingle Worship

Posted by admin in News

Today in Whole School Worship we were lucky enough to be joined by members of St. Andrew’s Church who taught us about Christingle & helped the children to make their own Christingle which they will be bringing home tonight. Cath led our Worship and taught the children about all of the different parts that make up the Christingles. Can you remember what each part represents?

The orange represents the world and all of the countries that we live in.

The red ribbon represents God’s love that is shared around the whole world.

The colours of the fruits and the sweets represent all of God’s gifts and the colours of the seasons that we enjoy throughout the year.

Finally, the candle represents Jesus, who is the Light of the World.

Cath, Jayne, Sandra and Lynn then worked with each class to help them create their own fabulous Christingles. The children also learned about the wonderful work that The Children’s Society do throughout the country and every child has brought home a donation envelope if they fell that they would like to support the charity with a donation, if they can.

A huge ‘Thank You!’ to Cath, Sandra, Jayne and Lynn (and also to Mr Donellan for drilling the holes for the candles in 210 oranges!)
