PETITION – PLEASE HELP!

Mrs Massey sent out a letter last week regarding the new National funding policy currently under consideration by the Government and the negative impact it will have on our school. This was introduced as ‘fairer funding for all schools’.  It isn’t fair – our school, like many others, will lose money.

You can help by signing the online petition at www.petition.parliament.uk. Click on ‘open petitions’ and put national funding for schools in search bar. 10,000 signatures will ensure a Government response, but 100,000 signatures will force a debate in the House of Commons.  This, together with lobbying your local MP may make a difference.

At the time of writing there were 24,327 signatures. My signature made 24,328.  Please add yours.

MRS PRESTON AND MISS TAYLOR TO THE RESCUE!

You will be aware by now of the funding crisis in schools across the country. Everyone at St Andrew’s is pulling together to make sure that our children still benefit from all the opportunities and support that we have always provided for their education and welfare.

In order to raise funds for school, Miss Taylor will be doing the Great North Swim, and Mrs Preston has decided to jump out of an aeroplane!

We hope that you will sponsor them when the time comes, and we will let you know soon how to do this.

I just wanted to let you know in advance because the children will be talking about it! Watch this space – more news to follow.

RED NOSE DAY – FRIDAY 24TH MARCH

This year we are going to have a ‘Red Nose Day Disco’. Children can come to school in their own clothes or fancy dress if they wish.

KS1 and Reception will have their disco during the afternoon. KS2 classes will be having their disco when school finishes and can be collected at 5.00pm.  The children will be provided with refreshments.

We would welcome any donations that you are able to send in support of this very worthy charity.

Many thanks.

JARS FOR BROWNIES

Brownies are collecting empty Douwe Egberts coffee jars. If you can help, please bring them into school reception.
