THIS HALF-TERM’S CHRISTIAN VALUE IS ‘PEACE’

This half-term we are thinking about the meaning of ‘Peace’. Peace in our hearts, peace in our lives and peace in the world. We have already been to church for the ‘Week of Prayer’ and the children have learnt different ways of being peaceful and talking to God, hopefully they may have shared some of them with you. The children have been exploring what peace means to them and sharing places that they find peaceful. We have talked about how we are sharing God’s peace when we say “Peace be with you.”

Each class is exploring being peaceful in different ways: through meditation, peer massage, prayer etc. On Remembrance Day we were peaceful during the minute silence, as we took time to reflect and remember. In the run-up to Christmas we are thinking about how Christ was sent to bring peace on earth, the true meaning of Christmas.

Please encourage your child to share their thoughts and experiences with you and maybe try and share some peaceful moments together.

May the peace of the Lord be always with you.

ARE YOU FREE THIS SATURDAY?

One of our ex-pupils, Lindsey Cavanagh (Mrs Hoban’s daughter), has helped to arrange an event at ‘The Venue’ next to Wigan Youth Zone.

The event is this Saturday, 19th November, from 2pm onwards. Their aim is to raise awareness about homelessness in support of ‘The Brick Project’.

There will be free soup and hot-pot, free tea and coffee, face-painting, glitter tattoos, colouring competition and more. There is no charge for entry or for any of the fun stuff on offer, but they would appreciate any donations, either monetary or in the way of items that can be used by ‘The Brick’: tinned food, dried food, coffee, tea, biscuits, baby food, baby milk, nappies and any unwanted toiletries you may have.

It is a chance for anyone currently too young (or too old!) to attend ‘The Venue’ and have a look at the amazing facilities available for our Wigan teenagers.

Many thanks in advance for your support.

Many thanks
