MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL OF US AT ST ANDREW’S SCHOOL

Once again, a big thank you children for the wonderful Christmas production!  Our aim is always to develop the children’s confidence and enjoyment for all as we learn and understand what Christmas is really about.

Thank you to families and friends for your support at these events and all year round too!  My thanks also to the staff for all their hard work giving the children a lovely Christmas at school.

(Mrs Massey)

OFSTED INSPECTION 27th – 28th NOVEMBER 2012

A quick update!  As you will be aware, our Ofsted inspection took place on the 27th and 28th November.  It was a very rigorous two days which included lesson observations, interviewing us about our performance data, talking to children, scrutinising children’s work, teacher’s planning and assessment data and more (please see report for details).

I am pleased to report that we have now received our official feedback report which judges St Andrew’s to be ‘good’ and I am sending home a copy of the published report to every parent and carer.  This report can also be accessed on the Ofsted website from today onwards.

A judgement of ‘good’ under the new inspection framework is a really great achievement – since January 2012 only 7% of schools have been awarded Outstanding, with 50% achieving ‘good’, 34% ‘requires improvement’ and 9% ‘special measures’. We are very pleased with our report, yet we are still keen to improve as all schools should be, and this is always our aim.

My special thanks to the children, who were so good, as always, and really impressed the inspection team – they really are a credit to their parents and carers!
