HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME
The first few weeks of term are really important for the children to settle in to their new classes and it is unfortunate when they miss out.
The Education Regulations (1995) sets out regulations concerning pupils taking holiday during term time.
- Wherever possible parents should take their holiday during the school holiday.
- Parents should not expect that the school would automatically agree to family holidays during term time. We will carefully consider requests for absence and we may take past attendance records into account.
- Requests for absence for family holiday should be made on a form which is available from the office. This form should be submitted to the Headteacher who will consider the request in conjunction with the child’s class teacher.
- Permission for holiday cannot be granted during the weeks when children sit their SATs.
- The school cannot authorise more than a total of 10 school days for a family holiday. Whether or not the school will authorise these 10 days may be influenced by the child’s attendance record. Parents should inform the Governing Body if they intend to take their child on holiday without authorisation.
If a holiday during term time is unavoidable please make your request form specific by detailing the special circumstances for school to take into consideration. Many thanks.
